A few more photos (from Oregon)

We are having a great time in Oregon! Here are a few more photos we wanted to share…

Riding towards Mt. Hood. I can't believe views of these majestic mountains are an everyday occurrence for people who live around here.

Dave, the friendly cyclist who adjusted Ray's bicycle and hooked us up with safety tape coat hanger flags. (Bye, bye safety triangles!) They work great - the cars give us lots of space now.

On a side note, we learned that the passing distance for cars to go around bicycles in Oregon is: “far enough so that if the cyclist falls over the car wouldn’t run over them.” We’re not exactly sure how many feet that is, but it sounds like more than the 4 ft that is currently the law in PA!

Hola, Daisy.

Gracias Xiomara! Diles hola a Javier y a Leonor. Pense en Leonor mucho los ultimos dias porque viajabamos con un adolescente. Por favor dale un abrazo fuerte por mi parte. No importa si le moleste…

Hello! I found your blog off of the CRBC National Bike Challenge site. I was wondering how you two were getting so many points each week and now I know! I’ve done some cycle touring and am intrigued by your trip. My husband and I did a 2 week tour from San Francisco to Portland, OR a couple of summers ago. I recorded our experiences at the State Parks and the restaurants that we found to be tasty. I realize that you may be on a limited budget since you plan to be gone for a year.

Here is the link to my blog: http://allterrainbiketour.blogspot.com/

I hope you find the information useful. I’m looking forward to following your adventures throughout the year!

Great, I’ll check out your blog! We’re almost to the coast, and looking forward to it.

The hangers and passing distance sound like great safety enhancements. Can’t do a thing about the PA laws, but I will try the hanger idea.

      Naomi,
The safety flags truly work wonders! So far, no cars have gotten angry with us, and we get a lot of thumbs up from other cyclists. In PA the law is actually even better than in most states: 4 feet required. Think of how long your coat hanger could be! Sorry to be missing JSM. I miss all my stat friends!

I can’t believe the Sisters City Park actually provided you with fresh sod! Cousin RuthAnn
