I read about you in the CDT (Sunday?) and have since read your entire Blog. Great trip. I’m from State College and same as you two, in May of this year I began a major trip, albeit on a small motorcycle. I’m more of an adventure motorcyclist, but I’ve done enough fully loaded bicycle touring to understand what you’re doing. In my moto travels I have met many bicyclists in the most remote places of Alaska, Patagonia & Siberia. They get my highest respect, as you do.
I’ve ridden from State College to Prudhoe Bay, and I’ve ridden in Chile and Argentina, where I met many bicyclists. You’ll love it.
I’m now in the middle of a round the world trip. You may not be interested in a moto blog, but there are a couple of pictures and postings about long distance bicyclists in there. Page forward by clicking on page numbers, right side, top or bottom. http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=978907
Congrats on your PhD!!! My best friend in DC, where I lived and worked for 35 years, is an avid bicyclist and PhD in Stat. My wife and I would love to meet you when you’re in S C again, if you ever are. May your skies be clear, your roads be smooth and the wind at your back.

I realize this was many years and adventures ago, just wondering if you have any inkling or recollection or further clues, either exact location or rough area.
We are Curtis and Jenny Shaw from UPMichigan and began following you in 2014-15 thru South America. You are an inspiration.
We cycled Alaska to Ushuia 2016-2019, not quite the same path but your cycling did inspire us, from the Sign Post Forest to the Pink House.
Sitting here in Cochrane, Curtis stated he saw that you are back in South America (via WhatsApp) heading north. We are heading to O’Higgins and then turning back north. We will have done 2 north to south rides on the Carretera Austral and it will be time for us to retrace the route from South to North. We have to be back in Santiago for our flight home.
If our paths cross, wonderful but if not please know that your 2014-2015 journey has been and will continue to be an inspiration. And I look forward to following your family on this adventure.

Thanks, Robert! We’ll be back to State College by the end of next year (2015) and it would be fun to meet you. Enjoy your trip!

I’ve spent the past few hours on Streetview trying to follow your route and got as far as Aguascalientes, but then it got much harder.
I realize this was many years and adventures ago, just wondering if you have any inkling or recollection or further clues, either exact location or rough area.
Thank you so much,
Chris
